Stephen King Adaptation The Monkey Coming from Neon in 2025

What do you get when you combine a short story from Stephen King, a script and direction by Osgood Perkins, and James Wan as producer? Hopefully, a great horror movie!

Deadline reports that Neon has won a bidding war for The Monkey, based on a short story in King’s 1985 Skeleton Crew collection, written and directed by Perkins and produced by Wan. The film is expected to be released in 2025.

When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them. The cast includes Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings, Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends), and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
