Final Destination 6 Begins Filming

After more than a decade away from the big screen, the sixth installment in the Final Destination franchise recently started filming and is set for a 2025 release.

Producer Craig Perry revealed the news on Facebook, saying: “After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. See you next year! PS: I know, I know — Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”

Titled Final Destination: Bloodlines, the script was written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick and the film is being directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks).

Series creator Jeffrey Reddick previously told Dread Central in 2022 that Bloodlines is “a true Final Destination movie,” which “doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.” He more recently told Collider, “This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that it kind of unearths a whole deep layer to the story that kind of, yes, makes it really, really interesting.”
