Janelle Monáe Set to Star in Don’t Look from Writer Akela Cooper

Based on an unpublished short story by Colin Bannon which will be adapted by Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2, M3GAN), Don’t Look is set to star Janelle Monáe (Antebellum, Glass Onion), who is also in talks to produce for Universal, according to Deadline.

Nothing is known about the story of Don’t Look, being unpublished, but Bannon seems to be Hollywood’s “it” writer of the moment, having landed seven scripts on the Black List, which stands as a record, and recently selling spec scripts Ultra to Tri-Star and First Ascent to Netflix. Last month, he landed another short story, Long Lost, at Universal which tells the story of a recently married woman whose life is upended when her husband’s long-lost wife shockingly returns after she was believed to be dead, sparking fears that she’s hatching a sinister plan to reclaim what was once hers.

Stay tuned for more details as we get them about this upcoming project.
