David Bruckner Signs on to Write and Direct Modern Blob Remake

In more positive news, David Bruckner is hoping to bring The Blob back to life as writer and director for the upcoming remake, according to The Wrap. Bruckner has previously written Southbound and segments of V/H/S and V/H/S/94 but might be better known as the director of 2020’s visionary The Night House and the 2022 reboot of Hellraiser.

The Blob, originally released in 1958 starring Steve McQueen, was followed by the 1972 sequel Beware! The Blob, directed by Larry Hagman, and the 1988 remake which starred Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith. Bruckner’s vision for the new film has not been reported yet and the project is in early pre-production, but what would you like to see in a modern-day version of The Blob?
