Russell Crowe Eager for Pope’s Exorcist Trilogy
Audiences loved Russell Crowe’s portrayal of true-life Father Gabriele Amorth in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist, raking in more than $77 million at the global box office. An immediate sequel seemed a certainty, but according to Crowe, it may be further away than desired.
During an interview on The Six O’Clock Show, Crowe responded to a question about his recent religious horror film, stating, “Well that’s in discussion at the moment. The producers originally got the kick off from the studio not just for one sequel but for two. But there’s been a change of studio heads at the moment, so that’s going around in a few circles. But very definitely, man. We set that character up that you could take him out and put him into a lot of different circumstances.”
While we understand there is a lot of red tape in Hollywood, a trilogy of films based on this character seems like a no-brainer, so we hope for the best and will keep you informed of any new information.
