A24’s Jason is NOT Dead Yet, Despite Multiple Reports

Last night, a series of rumors began floating around social media (as they tend to do often), based upon a very brief report from The Insneider – A24 was “pulling the plug” on their planned Crystal Lake series.

Along with the short tweet, his subscriber-only newsletter reported further that “It’s unclear whether this is a permanent decision or a temporary one, as A24 had no comment. Perhaps Peacock will help the trades shed more light on this project, which was announced back in 2022.”

But, just a few short hours later, that initial report seems to not be complete… or true at all. Bloody Disgusting reports today that “A24 has NOT killed off Crystal Lake at this time. We have confirmed the show is still happening, but there is indeed some retooling of the project happening behind the scenes.”

Although some could interpret “retooling” as temporarily pulling the plug, the initial tweet and newsletter report seemed to be another example of sensational journalism where it’s more important to be first rather than correct.

While we understand the importance of getting the “scoop,” we will not sacrifice our integrity just to get a story. We will always strive to get the story RIGHT, first, before publishing anything. One of the main reasons we did not publish anything last night when the news first started leaking, we could not find a second source to confirm the story. Granted, using at least two reliable sources is a dated journalistic standard, but we feel it is an important standard to hold.

More news sites should subscribe to that standard, rather than become the click-bait, advertising-flooded, unreadable sources they have become.

Until we hear official word from creator Brian Fuller or A24 itself, we will continue to wait patiently for a new series set in the world of Crystal Lake.
